Kristen's Ballet Photo Shoot \\ Waveny Park, New Canaan, CT

October 21, 2014  •  5 Comments

I was doing a search for ballerinas on Model Mayhem back in the Spring and came across Kristen's portfolio. I fell in love instantly. She had some really cool images, and I wanted to work with her so badly. I contacted her and let her know I was interested. Weeks (or months?) later, I finally got a response! Haha. It seemed like our schedules would never align, though, but we worked something out and here is the proof!

Check out this photo/video slideshow of our photo shoot. Kristen is absolutely amazing. You wouldn't be able to tell, but she had hurt her back prior to the shoot. I'd really love to do another shoot with her some time next year with crazy stunts. That will be great!

So we started out the session at the steps. I like to ease into things, and this seemed like the perfect place.

Believe it or not, I did this whole shoot with manual focus. The Nikon D800 I had just purchased (and ended up exchanging) was faulty--terrible back focusing issues, so I didn't trust it one bit. I'm just glad that at least half of the shots came out in focus. Glory be to God! :)

Everyone who knows me knows my obsession with sunsets. I happen to know that Waveny Park showcases the most beautiful summer sunsets, so that's why I chose the location for this photo shoot. I think this was just a test shot. Oh, the squeal that exuded my being!

Back lighting was one of them, and I was so happy when I remembered to give it a try. The results were quite pleasing! At least to me, anyway :D

WOW I LOVE THESE!! Perfect use of flash - the variety in looks you achieved is amazing!! The video was so fun to watch, too! Who shot the video while you did still images? Also, which photography company did you work for? I'm looking into some myself!!
