Gemima + John // Wedding Highlights [Bridgeport & Monroe, CT]

July 04, 2016  •  4 Comments

Do you remember the engagement session I did a few months ago? Well, Gemima (aka Mia) & John finally had the beautiful wedding that we've all been waiting for. I hate to sound biased, but these are some of the best photos I've ever taken. HAHA! My family complains that I say that about every wedding, but I'm allowed :D I want to give a shoutout and special thank you to my lovely second shooter, Dominique, for capturing some of these photos for me. It's always nice to see the wedding through another photographer's lens.

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful. It took place at North Park Baptist Church on Bridgeport, CT. One of my favorite kinds of ceremonies to photograph is a Christian ceremony, and I'm not saying that because I'm a Christian myself. There's just something so pure and real about the officiant standing before the guests talking to them about the Biblical meaning behind marriage. I love it!

So after the ceremony, we went to a spacious venue called The Stone Barn at Whitney Farms Golf Course, located in Monroe, CT. During cocktail hour, I photographed the bridal party and immediate family members. Thank God for some shade from the bright sun! Then it was time to just get the two lovebirds alone. I can't believe I forgot to mention how absolutely GORGEOUS Mia looked. That dress was perfect for her, and the Cathedral veil was the icing on the cake.

Ahh the ring shot. Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingPortraits

I'm proud of how on-schedule the portraits were haha. We made it back in time for the bride & groom to grub and hang out before the DJ made the announcements. Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

Right after they walked in, Mia & John did THE most beautiful first dance I've ever seen in my entire life. I almost cried, but I stopped myself because I had to keep shooting haha. I was whooping and cheering louder than any of the guests. I can't believe how lovely it was! These pictures don't even do it justice. So be sure to check out the video that Roody recorded with Larique below! Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

So after the amazing performance, dinner was served and then the dance floor opened up. Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

They paused the dancing to get some speeches from the maid of honor and best man. Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

Then it was time to cut that beautiful cake! Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

The bouquet toss got pretty intense haha. Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

And, of course, John put on a performance to take off Mia's garter. I had no idea this guy could dance so well! Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

Love this capture by Dominique. Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

These days, no guys want to catch that garter haha. Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

The best man was the first to step away, so the rest of the guys forced him to pick it up! Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

I have no idea what was going on between these two, but it must have been pretty funny! Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

More dancing! Gemima & John's WeddingGemima & John's WeddingReception

If there were a rug on the dance floor, John would have been cutting it haha. The use of a wedding band has for some time been a piece of religious weddings in Europe and America, yet the cause of the tradition is unclear. One possibility is the Roman faith in the Vena amoris, which was accepted to be a vein that kept running from the fourth finger (ring finger) directly to the heart.
